It is one of the easiest ways to cope with the fact that your page may be viewed on a variety of devices with the browser viewport open to any width between 200px and 200000px.

    Hi John,

Responsive website is the most important need of the hour. Only by adopting to responsive web site we can cover our customers.

With the current bloom of mobile devices we need websites that can transform to those. Also it is necessary to have a good desktop site.

It is a overhead in all aspects to create two different sites. Hence the need is a responsive site. As highly responsive as possible.

    Great Topic,
Now these day most of the client demanding responsive Web Design, this is basically a new terminology in which we create Website design in such a way visitors get engage when he/she visit our sites by which our page visit per visitors increase and chances of query increases.

    Completely agree.
This whole forum seems plagued with this sort of nonsense at the moment.
I'd vote for deleting, or at least locking this and other similar threads.

Yes, off course because for the recent past years a large no of people moved to the mobile devices. People prefer android and iPad on laptops and PC. So it's very necessary that your website is responsive.

Did anyone used to deal with liquid layout a few years ago? It was circa 2007 when I first started with liquid layouts but they were deemed "ugly" even though they were completely accessible and similar to responsive design. It's almost like a reworking of the idea of liquid/fluid layouts - maybe if tablets and smartphones were as popular in 2007 then we wouldn't be calling it responsive Anyone agree?!

But “liquid” isn’t necessarily the same as “responsive” (as we know it today) because responsive layouts don’t have to be liquid in order to adapt (“respond”) to different device configurations.

A responsive layout for web design and development is a must now a days considering the new smart phones and tabs with various screen resolutions as well as various size monitors. So as a result media queries became very handy in achieving the task. Also of you really looking to et a responsive web design done in a short period, I would suggest you to go with a Responsive Framework like "Less" or "Bootstrap".

Responsive web design is being considered because as what they say, "Customers won't return if they've experience something bad when visiting you're site". This might be another reasonable answer.
