Some images not loading in IE8

I'm trying to debug some issues on IE8 with a site I'm doing.

Even though the images are on the server, works on chrome, firefox etc on IE8 when I try and load the image (either in the website or directly linking to it) it comes up with the like error icon and doesn't load the file.

I'm completely confused as to why this is happening. Has anybody got any idea?

At first I thought the images were corrupt but they load fine on IE9, Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

IE8 won't display CMYK images - could that be the issue?

It could be, I resaved the faulty images in Photoshop using Save for web and devices and they seem to be working now.
