    Questions About Public WHOIS Information

Ok so obviously I'm fully aware that web registrars have domain registration privacy that you can purchase from them, however it mostly seems like a ripoff.

What I want to know is if there's a free service that would allow me mask my data? Kind of like how Google Voice gives you a phone number to use that is then routed to your actual number. Something like that, but for other personal information.

Maybe there is and I just haven't run across it yet? I don't mind the law knowing what they want to know, but hiding my info from spammers is an absolute must.

You mention "free" service-- are you thinking a 3rd party tool you can apply to any shared hosting? No idea. Hostmonster used to offer Privacy free with shared host accounts but they removed that freebie, unfortunately. Left a bitter taste in my mouth.
