    Just starting with Wordpress. Help!

    Hi all.
I have always coded my own html & css when creating my websites. I know Wordpress can be a valuable tool to add to my tool box (and I understand can speed up my website creation time). I am ready to do it and I have watched tutorials & installed Wordpress. Ready to go!

My problem is where to start? Do I use a premium theme to get ahead, or is it easy enough to build from scratch? Most "themes" that I see look like "blogs" and I want mine to look like a normal website. Is it really that difficult to do?

I also want to just jump in and start editing the html & css, but I know I am defeating the purpose of using Wordpress and it's dashboard.

A benefit I can see in using a premium theme is that some have "features" built in. Is it worth it? I would appreciate it if someone could just point me in a direction (and boost my confidence !). Thank you, Buffmin

Start with any theme, even a free one. You can find some that look more like
regular sites (not so much like a blog). Once WP is installed, you only need to
edit the files within your theme directory. Everything is there ... the templates,
the CSS, the images, etc. Don't touch any files outside of your theme directory.

    Thank you very much.
Good place for me to start. Yes, I want to create a custom site, but not mess up thr cms capabilities. Hopefully this will get easier as I start figuring things out! Thanks again, Buffmin
