    Ip Address

So, I made a game that when the users exit, it opens my site and submits there scores to the site along with their ip address. Every time they update their scores, it matches there ip addresses and if it doesn't find a match then it creates a new account or row in the db. But some users ip addresses are changing at random times so its creating more accounts for one person.

The users game stats save to their computer so playing from a different location wouldn't matter because they would have to restart anyways. So I don't know if I fully understand how the Ip Addresses work? Or what is happening?

Their IP address can change for a number of reasons. Some change based on the ISP DHCP settings, users with dialup change whenever they connect, or a few other things. My IP at home never changes as long as my modem stays on, if it is off for a few days or a week, when I turn it on again the IP changes.

I know some DSL providers configuration causes your IP to change every few hours to few days.

Instead of the IP you could use a GUID when the player starts a new game and use that to record the scores on your site.

Thank you for explaining that, I think your suggestion might work. I will try it.
