Question how to create website with button counters data in myslq database

I have no idea where to start with this and need advice/help.

I am trying to create a members website with many button counters on the main members page after login.

To where all data(button clicks) for each user is stored into a mysql database.

    Example:

    button 1: "Cough" - 001

    button 2: "Sneeze" - 001

    button 3: "Smile" - 001

To where every time one of the buttons is clicked a counter beside the button counts up.

Also to have a simple type of calender on the main page also, so each user can look up by day/month/year how many times they clicked on each of the buttons. Like a running total for the day, month or year.

The first thing I would is make a mockup (hand drawn or with a graphics application) of what you want the page to look like.

Then I would markup the html and css to create the page.

Then add the functionality which would most probably include using javascript (with or without AJAX), a server side language, sql and a database.

Have a go at the first 2 tasks so at least you will then have a foundation to start from to add functionality.
