    Running multiple versions of Firefox?

I am running multiple versions of Firefox on Mac OSX and I have had the experience of the browsers automatically loading the Mozilla update page
when the Firefox browser (either one) is launched.
Does anyone here know how to dissable auto loading of update page in
    Firefox?

My reason for multiple versions is for web content testing purposes, to make
html/css and javascript as broadly consistent as possible. I also am using
Safari, Google Chrome and two versions of Opera.

I don't see a separate forum here for browser specific issues.

Thank you for time and attention

About half way down the page.

    IE-- of course

Yes, I have a pc running several versions of I.E., and Firefox, and Opera, and Netscape (recent version).

I have 'Automatically check for updates to:' unchecked in preferences.
