    Mozilla 1.1 Beta

    ...is out!

    Grab your copy here:
    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/r...s/mozilla1.1b/

Just thought I'd let you all know.

And to provide some relevancy to this thread, I'd like to hear your current thoughts on the Gecko rendering engine.

*I* am still convinced it is the best web browser/suite (suite because I use Chatzilla as my IRC client, and the Mozilla mail client as well) around, completely surpassing IE in every way I could want, except for usage of course.

Since it just came out today, I'm assuming:

    20020722XX

I don't have it yet... I have a 1.1 trunk build from the 15th compiled with SVG, and am waiting for another SVG-enabled binary to upgrade.

:: can't wait until back on LAN at school, so he can use Linux + GCC and T3 connection to build his own ::

    Edit:
Heh, a trunk build for today with SVG:
    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/n...svg-mathml.zip

    :: fires up dialup ::

Than IE? Oh yeah, of course.

Actually, you may really notice an "improvement" of some pages rendering because of the addition of "Almost standards" mode.

You have quirks, almost standard, and standard.

Look here for what triggers each mode:
    http://mozilla.org/docs/web-develope.../doctypes.html

And this is what almost standards mode "fixes" (well, it actually purposely follows an incorrect interpretation of the CSS2 standard, but Gecko is also the only browser in existance to correctly follow it):

Well ... I'm sure you know me a little better than that ... what I meant was better than all previous incarnations of Mozilla.

The almost-standards mode is an interesting idea - could prove instrumental in increasing mozilla's uptake to non-tech literate folk (ie, most people)

But by rendering improvement I was talking more visually - it looks nicer, layouts are visually more stable (no dodgy aliasing or uneven blocks of color) and render far more quickly than before.
