    Sitemap Question

    Hi,
I've only recently started using a sitemap.xml on my site and am not up to scratch with the technology.

My question is: should I update my sitemap.xml file every time I post a new blog entry? I've coded the site so that each blog entry is viewpost.php?id=# (where # is a different number every time).

Could I just put viewpost.php in my sitemap.xml file and set the update frequency to daily (so that it picks up all new comments etc) or do I need a seperate entry for viewpost.php?id=1, viewpost.php?id=2 and so on?

    Thanks!

Ha, here was me thinking this was a simple question. 104 views, no responses - I guess no one knows what a crawler looks for in a sitemap other than the big search companies themselves, huh?

For the time being I've just gone with viewpost.php, update daily. Would be a tremendous hassle to have to update the sitemap every time I posted a new entry.

    Two opposite answers...lol
One here from another forum thread, and this one from google's site itself.

One thing to mention, I use some software called ZoomIndex, which is well an indexing/search feature for several of my sites. I have it scheduled so that is indexes my site on a weekly basis. One of the added benefits of this software though is that it creates a sitemap for me as well. So each time it runs and indexes my site, the sitemap is also recreated and saved over the previous sitemap.
