Question pdf won't open in target frame

I can get my pdf files to open in a target frame and can seem to get them to go back to the right htm.

I have a button placed on the document and have been using "open file" it works.

However, when I select another link from my main menu it opens a htm into its own window like I have target="_blank" when I have the target set to frame

I have also tried using javascript to get the pdf to open the htm properly but that has not work out either

    Any help would be great

I can get a pdf to open in an <iframe>

    by using

    <a href="sample.pdf" target="main" ><img src="image.gif" border="0" width="21" height="23"></a>

    <iframe id="main"><iframe>

it opens the pdf inside the iframe but when I select the button to return it seems like it opens a blank window in the frame, because when I select another link even though I have used target="main" it loads the url like I have target="_blank"

I have tried to place am image in the pdf and use some javascript with it like javascript:window.history.back(); but this doesn't work at all.

    What am I doing wrong?
