Best text editor for me is Notepad++

It has the colour changing thing, with many programming/scripting languages, and the colours can be customised to your liking...

    I would recommend Eclipse.

There is an eclipse version dedicated for PHP programming.

It contains every single functionality you need while programming and the most important is the code assistant and validator.

If you want the most features, Eclipse is a good (free) option, Notepad++ doesn't have all of the features but is smaller and faster. Eclipse doesn't run well on my laptop for example, but fine on my desktop.

Also check out Netbeans, I really enjoyed that as well and its also free. Its probably the top competitor to Eclipse.

I highly recommend tsWebEditor, it is by far the best I've seen. Highlights system code, numbered lines, fixes your code, tells you how to use the code, change from different file types in a single click, it's just massive and yet so clean and simple.

Rowsdower! has accused me of having mental problems, and the administrator allowed it. What a great forum huh?
