    Color scheme check

    Hello all,

I am currently working on a new site that uses css heavily and very few--in fact, only one--images. After I finished making the original site layout, I realised how easy it would be for me to make several stylesheets that changed purely the color scheme of the site.

I have finished making several different color schemes and I was wondering if you all could check them out and see what you think. Also, I am using php to set a cookie and then retrieve that cookie so that your style preference stays. I would appreciate it if you could check and make sure this is working (simply close your browser window after changing the color scheme and see if that scheme is still there when you re-visit).

    The site is:

    http://www.mikesadventures.net/hybrid/log.php

P.S. Only a few of the links are working right now, and the site isn't near to complete. I am just checking the color schemes for now.

You're right, they are a little light and blend into the background a little too much. And now that I look into it, it seems that most of my different color schemes' links do this same thing. Did you happen to check the other color schemes, or did you just look at the blue (original) one?

For most of the color options, try for greater text/background contrast (e.g., the cherry scheme is nice, but lipstick lacks sufficient contrast).

It might be nice to indicate the selected color scheme (perhaps a small word beneath the menu).

And it does seem to save the cookies correctly.

I very much like this idea.

Alright, I added a little blurb that tells what the current style is. I have no idea why I wouldn't have thought of this before now. I mean, it just is very logical and very easy to implement as well.

One question though for Catman. Would you suggest changing the background colors or the text colors to gain a higher level of contrast? I have always thought that the majority of the text on a page should be either black or white. I dunno why, but that's just the way I have thought. So I would probably say to change the background colors...what do you think?

Ohh! That's no fun... It was really easy to do too! Actually, it was my first practical script in php that I wrote all by meself.

About the contrast, I enjoy it too! I was making it thinking that it would be nice and ugly, but I have become quite fond of it overtime.

cq9com, when you click original does all the styling go away? Is it just a page with text, or does it still have the same layout only jus black and white for colors?

Lol, should I have? I was making a "fuscia" style, and then I realized that maybe lipstick would be a more fitting name .
