Well, if it’s deleted from the server there’s usually no way to retreive it. I suppose/hope you have a copy on your computer? If not then your only option will be to recreate it from scratch.

You may have some luck to find some downloaded files of your site in the browser cache (if you’ve visited it before). Don’t visit any more sites with that browser for now! You’ll overwrite the cache and the files will be lost. I had a similar problem recently. The files the browser loads are stored somewhere on your hard disk. In Internet Explorer there is a directory called “temporary internet files” or something like that, which you can browse. In Firefox it’s a little different. You need to type about:cache into the address bar and then you can list the cache entries and may find the cached files of your site to retreive them.

As last option consult archive.org and look if the internet archive has entries for your site. If that doesn’t help then you can’t do anything other than recreating your site from scratch. Good luck.

It's always good to keep a folder on your desktop with all the files of your website in it, so for losses like this, you can restore them.

Also if the web server belongs to you you could look into data recovery software.
You can not say you know how to do something, until you can teach it to someone else.

Smile if you were uploading then,...

if you were uploading then it is possible the new upload contained another index page and therefore your site is still there but your browser can not access it.
Also, do you have web hosting? contact your company and see if they will restore your site from XX day.
Most companies clearly state they do not keep backups of client sites, But Most do, I say the same and I keep a 7 day back up of client sites for just these occasions!
