    online site update...

    hi all,

I want to create a form on a website so that when data is entered, it is displayed elsewhere on the site. I guess for this i would need a database? If so what language/code would i need to learn?

Any links to tutorials/help on this would be greatly appricated

    Thanks,

    Mike

You don't have to use a database; you can use normal files. This may be an easier way to do it.

I recommend PHP to start with, then you may want to try out Ruby on Rails.

Your challenge will be to prevent mischief. If you allow Javascript, for example, your website can get wiped out and/or taken over. PHP has a function called striptags() that gives you the ability to remove entire portions of a string. For example, striptags($string, "<script>") will completely remove all Javascript, saving your website from certain destruction.

    Good luck!

A good PHP book would be a start.

You need database and PHP script. The easiest language to learn is PHP. PHP can do that.
