    NS6 Compliance

I made a website for a friend...and its turning into a real headache. I keep getting calls letting me know that it doesn't work on some browser version or other.

I could have sworn its completely compliant with all but the arcane fringe browsers but apparently it doesnt' work on NS6.2.3.
What's weird is that the site works on NS4.7 and NS7 and IE4+....

I dont have a clue why this is....or what I could do about it

Perhaps the problem is with the iframe...

If someone took a quick look at it and shared their thoughts, I'd put some silver stars on their report card...

Yeah, iFrames aren't really a great idea. It would be simple to slice the thing up into frames though?! Why not do that and get rid of your headache.

The design is nice though. Looks cool. I'm not to fond of the photography though, but that's probably cause I'm a Web designer and not a photographer. Nice Web graphics though.

Concerning what was messing up visually..all I have to go on is the email that alerted me to the problem:

    ---
I could not get past the startup frame, except for this
email. Tried every button. The screen would try to work for 3 seconds and then stop. I am using Netscape 6.2.3 at the moment. Since Netscape 4.7 works fine at school, I would think that the problem might be with the new version
    ---

i'm not quite sure I follow the problem...I've sent an email back to the person but its been a while and he hasn't responded..

You can acheive the same result using pure CSS. Simply stick in a DIV, and set it to scrollable. Put stuff inside it. Fiddle.

Take a look at www.soapi.com to see how I did this and made it work cross-browser

Acknowledgement and thanks is due to the folowing people for helping me overcome several CSS problems on that site... jkd, joh6nn, beetle... and a few others who posted in my threads.

not as easy as an iframe though to load seperate pages into the frame.
    considerable amount of javascript needed.

Very strange this ... but the IFRAME just doesn't show up in ns6.2 However if you remove the width and height attributes, it does!

Eventually, the closest to your original I got, that still worked, was this:

    width="98%" height="400"

If width or height (but not both) are expressed as a %, and the other in pixels, then it shows up.

    Weird ..

Hmmm, I would disagree... there are many simple methods however you are correct about the simplicity of a frame of some kind (however, we all know the down sides of that! )
