    stores online ?

has anyone ever used stores online ?
my aunt bought 5 web sites from them and asked me to set up her shops , i got the web pages all done in a html editor and they will not let me upload them so , i redid the pages on their site but they will not let me see them , and they will not let me change the backgrounds . i have never used this program and she told me to take my time and see what i can do , but nothing is as it seems with this program , and the help button sucks.
if anyone has used this program or knows someone who has used this program who could stear me in the right direction i would be ever so happy.
    thanks

Are you referring to http://www.storesonline.com/ ? Do not understand "...they will not let me upload them...". Are you not paying for hosting service with StoresOnLine.com? They seem to provide FTP for uploading files: FTP for StoresOnline 4.0 and PRO

This, too, doesn't make sense: "...they will not let me change the backgrounds... " as you should be able to customize your eCommerce pages to fit the theme of your business. Are the file extensions suppose to be *.html or *.php? Makes a difference as you may have to use the online editor for your files.

    yes
she paid for the hosting for 5 sites , you can upload the files but you cant use them ,
and with the backgrounds you can upload them but you cant use them , they will only let you use their own.

their online editor will not let me save , i have used it and had to retype the same code over and over . i would hit save and then wait and then hit view and it would show the old info and background , then i would go back and nothing would be there.
thats what has me so confussed , i can see the programs i need are on there but they will not work i have printed of the help manual and i have the pages spread out in front of me , i follow them step by step and yet nothing is working . so i have no clue what i am doing wrong or if its not me at all but their program .

Anyway I can get to look directly at the pages myself? What is the link to at least one of the problem sites? Is it at least showing the original template? The online editor not working is very strange. After editing, you do have to do a complete refresh (Ctrl + F5) of your browser to see changes.

Have you been able to make a telephone contact with Support?

Perhaps their content is by default placed first, and you must delete it or disable it. However, this is not a question for us here, as it is completely with their service and its doubtful that any of us can help as much as the tech support for the site. If their support drops the ball though, I'd cancel my hosting and find another option.

Sorry, but have to disagree with you. Look at the other sites that used their services and there is NO problem with editing the files whatsoever. I just need to either ask the right questions or finally get some answers to ones already asked. http://www.storesonline.com/ SHOULD NOT have any control over any of the services provided to get a SEPARATE business site up and running when that service has been bought and paid for.

Print screens will not give me an idea as to why you are being denied the use of the sites and getting them published using FTP since FTP is allowed.

Sorry I also disagree. How are we supposed to help with a service we cannot access or see, and which should have paid support? Also I don't completely understand what you mean by StoresOnline should not have any control over any of the services provided to get a site up...that is what they do is it not?

Anyways, I searched the site which has little front end support resources. Have you tried to contact the StoresOnline people? Honestly, if you hit "save" on their system and it does not save, there is very little that anyone else can do besides them (unless you are accidentally hitting a button called "reset" instead). If you are paying them for this service, then you must demand assistance from them. I would love to be able to help, but honestly I have no idea what any of us can do without actually logging in and troubleshooting for you.

They are NOT doing the work nor proving nothing but the tools as the OP states she is having problems uploading files (corrections) to the 5 sites OWNED and the company states it supports FTP. Once you bought the 5 sites and any templates you wanted to use as the theme, you OWN the rights to them. In fact, you do NOT have to use any specific templates provided as every business using that company's service has the right to provide their own layout to match the business to a theme of their own choosing.

We could help, but only once OP has tried suggestions already through the company's support system. Since she states she hasn't permission to provide anyone access to FTP, help is at a standstill. You fellows give up too easy, but I have the time to wait it out as I don't just hang around this forum. Plus, I have other things to do in the meantime...like fight with FEMA over Katrina help!

Page content (such as text, images, products, links, headers, footers, etc.) can be easily customized, added, and changed, whether in the point-and-click environment or a traditional environment. Plus, you can complement your products and services with a completely custom design. Such designs include aesthetic and functional components, creating a greater sense of security and professionalism. Then, instantly publish your changes and updates (making the changes and updates live on the Internet) only when you are completely satisfied with their appearance.
This is what Stores Online says about Design. They do not provide a working demo of their services, but essentially everything fits into their system and you get certain points at which you can make changes. So most of their sites are going to look relatively similar.

I decided to do a little research into this service, because something about it makes me feel uneasy. Basically there is a lot of opinions against their service, due to the relatively tight grip they have on your visual display and how the rankings for these sites tend to be low in the search engines. Perhaps

Have you contacted support yet? This is first step. They know their service, and honestly even if we can figure out the problem we probably can't do anything about it (assuming this is not user error).

Some simple things: try to use a different browser (their site suggests IE, go figure), clear your browser cache, maybe another computer. Make sure its not you, because sometimes support people like to try to pin it on you for a long time before admitting there might be something wrong with their system.

I do not give up too easily, and it is an insult to many of the members of this forum to claim this. I am offering help, but as I've said what can we do in this situation without the access to the site or even a clear idea about the problem? However as said, this is a SERVICE provided by this company. As I said, unless we can have ACCESS to the site itself, there is likely little we can do. I do not wish this to turn into some war, so please drop this and wait for a response from the OP.

But all posts have basically given the same advice I've given in my post to OP which still needs an update to questions. I've said the same thing you just said and I can't see everyone beating the same horse to death with the same suggestions. You would think once is enough until new info from OP is brought forth. It's not going to take an army of posts to solve this until the info requested is given.

If you can't add anything new that has been given by another member, don't post to theme.

As for my comment being an insult. Getting a thicker skin. Someone saying that about me wouldn't bother me in the least. So...get over it!

    End of Off Topic comments!!!!!

This is sort of sad ...

Right on the very front page of www.storesonline.com, showing a testimonial ...
    http://www.readystripoutlet.com/

Not a very good way to show a testimonial.

... and then, at the bottom of the error page:

    2002?

why not just use godaddy to register, freehostia to host and ZenCart or similar for the shop?

Before I get banned here, I have to agree. I often wondered about those testimonials. And the 2002 date might be a tip off as to how well they run their business if they can't keep their own site current. Kinda like my own.
