    Web host + domain?

I am currently looking for some web hosting with php in the deal for forums/scripts ect.

However I can only pay by postal order.

Do you kind people know of any web hosting companies who I can register a .co.uk domain with?

And they would have to be based in the UK.

    Thanks in advance

    Google...

I Googled "web hosting in uk" and found, besides a ton of uk-based web hosters, Tophosts.
Might be an interesting starting point for your search.

I suggest that you don't register the domain through your host. Not without thorough checking anyway. Not saying everyone is a crook but the stories about locked in domains are many. Besides, you can't be good and cheap on everything and hosts are seldom the cheapest registrars.

    I can't stress meow's point enough.

I fell victim to it over the last few days, and now have lost ionsurge.com and may never get it back.

That's too bad. How'd it happen? Someone else bought it?

I'd been thinking about buying a domain name for my website, but now I'm kinda scard to...scared of that happening to me.

No need to be scared. I've used cheap registrars like GoDaddy and GKG without any kind of problem ever. There's a bunch of registrars below $10 that's perfectly fine. JUast ask around a little before you go with one you don't know.

    And stay away from VeriSign.

VeriSign/Network Solutions has a long history of unethical business methods, refusing to release domains and so on. The latest year or so they have sunk so low that they spam domain owners that DON'T use them as a registrar and whose domain isn't about to expire with email saying "Your domain is about to expire. Click here to renew you registration". They are SCUM.

I've used www.mydomain.com before with no problems.

They might not be the cheapest... I got 2 years for $30. But they have a great CP. Easy to use and you can manage multiple domains through it.
