    Question Flash Implentation and Resizing?

    Anybody have any idea how to implent a Flash exe into a website? I have already created an example for personal use, but I was unable to figure out how to resize, and limit the extra whitespace of the window...

    I used flamingtext.com's banner designer, and saved the files in gif format, then imported them into Flash 5, converted them to symbols. Then I, changed the gif's into buttons, and created the onpress action to a new window... _blank

    The problem is that the links are to the left of the flash window, but noly take up abot 10% of the space available.. I saved the .fla to .swf and created the .exe.. Once again I come to the problem of extra white space, and forgetting how to rid the extra white space..

    Any suggestions, tutorials, comments, etc would be appreciated

    You need to publish to HTML, this page will have the necessary code in (<object... yadda...)

    *.exe is a standalone program.
    *.swf is what's embedded in a page, this is what you use for the web.

    www.w3schools.com has some stuff on Flash

    You want to use the .swf file not the exe for webpages.

    dont know if this is what your asking... save your thing as an *.swf (thats a ShockWave File). if i called it "comingsoon.swf" (which i did ) the code would look something like this:

    <embed name="comingsoon" src="images/comingsoon.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width="324" height="300" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash">
    </embed>

    Hope that helps... happy coding

    Code:
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0" width="100" height="23">
                  <param name=movie value="yourflashfile.swf">
                  <param name=quality value=high>
                  <param name=loop value=true>
                  <param name="BGCOLOR" value="">
                  <param name="menu" value="false">
                  <embed src="yourflashfile.swf" base="."  quality=high pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="100" height="23" loop="true" bgcolor="" menu="false">
                  </embed>
                </object>
    This is the more "correct" method. Then if the person doesn't have a new enough flash player it will grab it for them. Oh and the menu parameter makes it so if someone right clicks on the flash movie there isn't the menu controls.

    Remember to change the width and the height measurements to fit your file.

    I just went in and edited your post (assuming you wouldn't mind) and disabled smiles. The code should now be displayed as you intended w/o the 'big grin' in the code ;).
