    Barcode Font

    Hi,

I'm looking for a ttf barcode font. This has to be the standard font which most barcode scanners can read. I plan to dynamically create an image using this font, which can then be printed by the user and used for other purposes so it has to work and not just look like a barcode font.

    Thanks for your help,
    Curt.

    Thanks for your reply.

I just have and theres no barcode fonts.

Ive found barcode fonts before on other font sites, but how can I be sure which one is the standard font which barcode scanners can understand?

    I found two here
    http://www.dafont.com/search.php?psize=m&q=barcode

but I don't know if they were meant for scanners to understand. I think you need a different solution for that.

Yeah Ive actually been using the first in that list for testing purposes, but Ive compared it to a standard barcode font and the bars are different if the ID is the same..

One of the most common and easiest bar coding fonts (but also one of the most limited and bulky) is Code 3 of 9, aka Code 39. You can find free 3 of 9 fonts anywhere when you search. Below is one of many sites offering this. Most sites also offer the extended version which includes lower case letters and more symbols.

Code 39 starts and ends with an asterisk, so outputting the font is as easy as *barcodenumber* and of course used with the 3 of 9 font. I believe some sites also offer Interleaved 2 of 5, which is another common one, although I've never used it.
