    Google Results Reference Site's IP

When doing a Google search for my site, it provides a link to my site by its IP address and not the full name. Is there any way I can correct this or report it to Google? It wouldn't normally be a problem but it's messing up my MySQL queries somehow and also it's bad for people who would normally see the web address and remember it, instead they just see a bunch of numbers and don't know what to type in the address bar when they want to come back. Any help?

I did some Googling, but I couldn't find an adequate solution. I discovered that I need some sort of 301 redirect. I'm adding this to my .htaccess file:

    Options +FollowSymLinks
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule (.*) http://mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L]

But this causes my site to have some kind of server error and it won't load my pages. I took it out for now, but I don't know how to fix the problem if this won't work. The OS is Linux running Apache 1.3.37 (Unix).
