How to make a go back/go forward script

I'm looking into making links on my homepage, each link will lead to another page on my homepage. Say "home" was first and "contact" was second, then when you click on "forward 1" it would go to contact, and so on, and it would go back, etc..Anyone have an idea? thanks

You could do that with javascript, but I don't know how...

You could also do it with PHP....but I'm a newbie and can't give the exact code you need...
