    Google Keywords Ranking

Is there any way I can enter my websites link and see where I rank on what keywords? I am curious to find out what my site is ranked on what keywords to see how I am doing so far. Averaging about 20 views a day on a week old blog is pretty good I think. So yeah any programs that will show me this?

Google does not supply a ranking checker.

I believe SEOmoz has a free tool that does this, if you create a free account on their site.
Web hosting by coders, for coders: php hosting - Magento eCommerce hosting - perl hosting - check us out!

Correct they do not offer a site that allows u to simply type in a url and they show you its position but they do offer some nice webmaster tools. Go to this linK:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and sign up for a new account. This will give you lots of cool info about your site.

For example this is from my Google Webmasters Tools Account:

Top search queries The top 20 queries in which your site appeared, and the percentage of the top20 queries represented by each search.
    # % Query Position
    1 36% free css templates 77
    2 16% reason templates 6
    3 10% free css template 86
    4 7% template forfree 5
    5 7% free templates css 28
    6 5% css best templates 40
7 3% free offer to purchase template 9
    8 3% offering free design 13
    9 3% free css template search 38
    10 3% best css templates 47
    11 3% free css layouts 79
    12 2% templatesforfree 2

Thank you to awatson and srule_ I'll look into both of those.

Edit I don't have an API key so I'm not able to use the google webmasters one.

Firstly, it was possible - many people don't check Google before asking here, and I wanted to present that option to you.

Secondly, given that there are numerous tools that do exactly what you want listed on the very search results page I linked you to, including the one awatson pointed out that you then thanked him for, isn't it reasonable for me to think you hadn't searched Google? If you had "looked around for a good while" exactly where did you look to NOT find a ranking checker?

Thirdly, you don't need an API to log into Google Webmaster tools.

s_rule, thanks, I am aware of what is available in webmaster tools - I merely was pointing out to the OP that it doesn't do what he originally asked for.

Just a word of caution. If you aren't rating high in a certain keyword that you have recently tried to optimize for google, you must give it time. Google does not update automatically. Also keep in mind that they change their algorithm every few months to try and keep people from blatantly trying to appear in the top search results. Mild optimization is all you want to do. Don't overdo it.

Doctordew, Pennimus is correct on the Google search thing.

People ask questions on here that they could get an immediate answer to
if they only searched on Google. In some cases, they just don't know what
keywords to use in the search. I just answered someone with a Google link
on "web page scraping". They didn't know the term "scraping", so they couldn't
    find it on Google.

And this statement is my opinion: "SEO is a crock of doo doo."
Only the programmers and employees of Google know how Google ranks sites.
I don't care how many "experts" out there think they have it figured out ... they don't.

Or put another way, (imv) they change their algorithm every so often so that the only way to be sure you are at the top is to pay for a sponsored link.

Maybe you can make some suppositions by using Google Analytics statistics...

True, but we do have a general idea of what effects SEO. Just because we do not know the exact algorithm does not mean we should not build sites with SEO in mind.

The basic ideas behind SEO usually help create a better page overall, so if you develop a site that lends itself to search well (without using black hat techniques like spamming) you are probably making a site that people will be able to find and use better.

SEO is like an automobile, just because you might not understand how the engine actually runs the car, you know that by checking the fluids you increase the chance of higher performance.

Besides, the most practical SEO techniques are just plain good design and clean code.

What I was looking for was a site I could log into and give them my websites name. The site would then refresh with a list of the bigger keywords that my site was listed under.

Check on the first 10 pages of google if you like, I am almost positive none of them do this, and that's what I was asking. If I knew all of the specific keywords I was put under I wouldn't need to use any tool like this as I could check it myself...

I thanked him as in, hey I'll check that out, maybe it is what I want. I don't memorize the links that I click on google as most of them I see they aren't what I'm looking for and back out.
