    different image file types

    hey everybody
    i know that the most commonly used file types for the web are JPG and GIF, and that PNG's still new but it's (supposedly?) pretty good. But what on earth are TIFF and WMF and Targa and EPS and RAW and SCT for?

    WMF(windows metafile) - Vector graphic
    TGA(targa) - a common denominator lossless image format
    EPS(encapsulated postscript) - http://www.flaginstitute.org/fieepsimages.htm
    RAW - unprocessed bmp?
