    finding a host

    hello,
i have a website in development, but need to find a new host, as they don't quite offer everything i need.

    what i need
    *mysql database
    *php
*.htaccess (including the ability to block/allow ip adresses)
    *e-mail (preferably webmail)
*suitable bandwidth/storage (i'm not sure how much i'll need as it is a new site).

i currently have a trial with streamline.net, but they only allow very limited use of .htaccess files and don't allow the ability to allow/block ip adresses.

can someone recommend a host who can offer all of the above, price isn't too important, but i definately do NOT want any ads on my site.

the package i was going to sign up to with streamline.net would have cost me around 60 for 2 years with unlimited bandwidth.

any help would be much apreciated.

    thanks

hostgator.com I use them. Very reliable, never any downtime, cpanel, linux OS, and they offer online instant chat so you can get answers to questions within minutes.

Here is a link to their prices. http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml If you scroll down that page they have a demo for cpanel if you have never used it before.

    I use "baby" hosting.

Checkout 1849webhosting.com - they easily meet your specs and then some - plus they are offering 3 free months of hosting. I have two accounts with them, one shared and one VPS.

computinghost.com has a decent package at around $9.95 per year that can be upgraded in increments as your site grows.

I like media temple....it's a bit pricey compared to the others though.

    What's up host gator bandwidth?

6,000 gb bandwidth, and unlimited bandwith for their top two shared hosting packages. But only 2,500 gb for there dedicated servers? Is there some sort of catch on the shared? Cause that seems like a sweet deal to me...
