Can you afford $4.95 a month?

If so try http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml. I use them and they are excellent. I have used them for almost 2 years and never had any downtime. They use cpanel and they have online instant chat. So you can get help right away.

The only other cost would be the cost of a domain name which I pay $15 a year for mine. which is $1.25 a month so basically you could have your own domain name for about $6.20 a month.

Other than that there are some other plans for less a month but you get what you pay for. Regardless, your gonna have to pay for the domain name.

    hope that helps,

    There is http://freehostia.com

They provide you with a subdomain like username.freehostia.com and their hosting packages are decent. They even have some free ones. And if later you decide to purchase a domain name you can transfer it over to your free hosting.

It lasts a year but they give you a chance to renew it. They do this to make sure the site is still active.

There's also http://www.websitesnetwork.com who will provide a free subdomain and free hosting (or allow you to point your own domain if you have one). Their free package is pretty decent all things considered.

Why not use Dynamic DNS and serve up your own web pages from a work computer?

You have a business and you cannot afford a domain name for around 8.00 per YEAR? I don't get it. If you don't pay for the domain you don't own it - why would a business get a domain name and not own it?

There are many low cost web hosting providers that can give you a nice web hosting package for under 5.00 a month. Why would you use a free hosting company with all of the problems that come with that - your business also cannot afford 2/3/4 bucks a month for a website?

The domain name is the cheapest part of having a web site.

The hosting charge is the next cheapest particularly if you choose a shared hosting plan (which you can get for around $4 - $10 per month). Dedicated hosting and 'free' hosting (where the provider makes the profit from the ads instead of you) are generally more expensive than shared hosting.

The most expensive part of having a web site is maintaining it (if you do this yourself then you are just paying in time instead of money). Maintaining a site usually costs hundreds of dollars a month (or the equivalent in time).

Minimal advertising on the web pages will easily cover the domain and hosting charge.
