    Question a free PHP/Apache/MySQL Host that can send email

    Can anyone recommend a FREE PHP/Apache/MySQL (or LAMP) Host that can send email with PHP?

    I have a small site with a PHPBB2 Forum which has to send out a confirmation email to let the user validate their registration. Trying the mail() function in PHP also does not work.

    My host - AwardSpace - seems to not support SMTP/Email sending for free accounts. http://forum.awardspace.com/viewforum.php?f=12

    Is there any host out there I can move my code to that will allow me to send emails from my PHP code? I've done a few google searches but not found much so far.

    Im pretty sure you can use WAMP/LAMP and then download a free SMTP server from http://freshmeat.net/
    You can not say you know how to do something, until you can teach it to someone else.

    as quoted by tpattison on killer sites.com

    Look for the following in your PHP.ini file and paste in your isp SMTP address:

    [mail function]
    ; For Win32 only.
    SMTP = mail.tesco.net ; for Win32 only
    smtp_port = 25
    sendmail_from= php@home.com ; for Win32 only

    Yeah that fix would only work if you had control over the server.

    I don't think the OP is trying to set up their own server. They are looking for a no cost Hosting service which alows email service. A rare breed, for sure.

    Try http://www.qupis.com.

    I don't think there are really any hosts out there that will provide this service, fair enough I suppose. Can;t have spammers, but can anyone recommend a cheap host that is LAMP and has SMTP/Email access for PHP.

    Yearly payment if possible, low bandwidth and space required.

    Cheers guys, dropped an email to the Gupis and Siteflip urls you sent through. Couldn't find anything specifically on both sites that stated that emails can be sent automatically through PHP and the PHPBB2 forum.

    The $0.99 p/m looked fine for my needs I would have thought.

    I don't know what the OP's requirements are for disk & bandwidth but 1849webhosting has 1GB disk and 5GB bandwidth for 2.95/mo with PHP mail() support. They have Linux severs.

    thanks, I ended up going for Turtle Hosting ( www.turtlehosting.com ), who have seemed ok at the moment. But their support system is slow, they do have an MSN contact which you can add to your list - but not been getting a reply :-(

    Disk and bandwidth requirements are going to be low for the site, but i've currently got:

    500.00 MB and 5GB Bandwidth

    PHP mail() support......i think, just about to find out though by testing it :-/
