    Practice CSS Layout

This is the first one I didn't refer back to tutorials to check what I did wrong. I feel proud of myself . And it's a lot more then it looks, if you view page source I have a div for pretty much everything. Like I didn't just stack the menu with <p>, there all different divs in case I want to change the background when you roll over them or something.

Like I said, just practice. Won't be any website or anything. If you using IE6 it looks bad. I don't know what IE7 looks like, I'll have to check. The one thing I would like to learn is how to change the layout by clicking buttons. I have layout change buttons but I need to find a tutorial that will show me how to change the layout. Anyone know of any?

Edit: CRAP! In any IE not only is it not centered but the middle section left border doesn't extend the whole way. I made height 100% and it worked in FF but not in IE. :\

Design for FF and then make it work for IE.
Simplify things so you don't need any hacks.

You're using Geocities, which sucks because it
throws all of the ads on there ... hard to do any
    CSS layouts with Geocities.

You can get your own site WITH your own
domain name for $30.00 (one year). That's
about 10 cents per day! Even if you spent the
$30 and let it expire in a year, that's the price
    of 2 music CD's! http://www.cleverdot.com

If you sat at your PC and drank a couple Starbuck's
Lattes, you've already paid for a year of hosting.

I just can't figure out why people think the free
Geocities is a good deal ... look at your site.
Look at the limitations it puts on features.

I completely agree with you about geocities. The deal is horrible but I use it just to test stuff anyway. And I know the price is cheap (and this lunarpages thing up top looks like an incredible deal) but I really can't spend anything on a site right now.

I'll try to find a less annoying free hosting site at the moment.

www.freehostia.com is decent. As to your first layout. It could have been done better. A div for every thing probably wasn't the way to go. Semantic html is the way to go. Look up that term to find out more. It seems like you are also looking for a stylesheet changer. Do a search on those terms and you'll get a lot of results.

    Hi,
I refer to http://www.alistapart.com as a resource when designing websites using css. They have a good range of useful articles and solutions to common problems / scenarios.
