    Lunarpages.com or Godaddy.com?

    Hi friends,

    I am analyzing two Win Hosting Plans from Lunarpages.com and godaddy.com

    1. Someone had or have actually a website running under one of this hosting Companies?

    2. Could I mesure the speed of connexion of these Hosting Companies?

    3. Table comparison:

    Lunarpages.com Goddady.com

    diskspace 5gb ||| 100gb
    MS sql disk space unlimited ||| 2x200
    bandwidth 400gb ||| 1000gb
    price/month 9,95(1 year) ||| 6,29(1 year)
    subdomains unlimited ||| unlimited
    multiple websites NO ||| unlimited

    Taking in account these data.I would like hearing from you an opinion/suggestion or point-of-view.

    Thanks

    LeBron Letchev

    LunarPages.com offers 5gb of disk space and unlimited space for MS SQL database while godaddy offers 100gb and only 2x200mb of MS SQL.

    Neither has a very good reputation on WebHostingTalk.com, I'm afraid.

    HostGator is consistently rated tops by its users for great service and not overselling bandwidth.

    You may want to peruse some of the review sites below to make a choice. Keep in mind that it's almost impossible to find unbiased hosting reviews, but after you check out some opinions on a few of these sites then you get a general idea of what you can expect.

    Thank you!

    I found at http://www.webhostingjury.com/ good reviews about lunarpages.com, but godaddy.com, indeed have a bad hosting- do you get what your pay -.

    Unfortunately the best websites - with a good reliability - don´t have Windows hosting.

    Thanks.

    That is because windows is less reliable than Linux and a more expensive platform on which to run a web server. A Linux system can be left on for years and may not have any problems. A Windows computer requires regular reboots and the sites hosted there will therefore be down more frequently.

    Hi,

    Servage.net hosts only linux.LunarPages.com or CrystalTech (Win Hosting), according to http://www.webhostingjury.com/, would be good solutions.

    Ever do you used two different hosting companies for hosting an unique website?I explain...

    1.Index.htm AND/OR .ASP FILES (X hosting company -FREE)
    2. database and (or also) .asp files (Y hosting company -NON FREE)

    thanks

    I'd steer away from any host promising "unlimited bandwidth" frankly.

    I agree with kewlceo " steer away from any host promising "unlimited bandwidth" and absurd disk space. I am grateful to also by the useful links.

    I have decided hosting with www.Crystaltech.com beause its hosting plans supports a large number of websites (domain pointers) and a good diskspace for MS SQL. In second place I would prefer the www.LunarPages.com where I can to hve unlimited subdomains and a exceptional dosk space for MS SQL.

    Regarding to www.WebHost4life.complease see the review at
    http://www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/WebHost4Life. It has a good
    hosting hosting with great features, but the review is too negative.

    I would suggestto yours see the Server Address (at www.whois.org) of some companies. For exampleo you would TRUST whose
    storage the data of a large and traditional company?I do.

    Interesting reviews. I had a site hosted there for almost three years; that is, up until a few days ago. I had their Basic Plan, but decided to go with another host (DailyRazor) rather than paying twice what I was paying just to get ASP.NET and the features that go with it. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the "nickel and diming" review though. They charged me $20 to get a custom error page, which knowing what I know now about how to set that up, was highway robbery. The renewal fee is ridiculous too. No one except them has ever charged me to use my credit card! As for the support, I found that to be excellent. So, take that into consideration when you make a choice for Windows hosting.

    Cool

    Well...

    There is another problem to be analyzed in companies that selling hosting plans and domain names:

    SSL ENCRYPTION

    According to: http://www.ssl-beveiligd.nl/en/certi...sl+encryption/

    "Definitely. When an SSL handshake takes place between a client and a server the level of encryption is determined by the browser and the SSL Certificate. Low encryption of 40 or 56 bits is not acceptable anymore nowadays. A hacker with the time, the means and the motivation can break the code in question within minutes. However, when the encryption is at a high level, for example 128, this will encompass twice as many combinations as a 40 bits encryption. This means that the hacker with the same means would need a million years to break this code. "

    Thanks

    SSL certificates can be bought anywhere though, so I wouldn't judge a host on that criteria.

    Hi,

    1. Before choice a Hosting Plan or a Register (Domain names)do you pay attention to the Policies (Customer Policy,Agreement, etc)?

    2. Do you trust in Online Companies for doing business using Credit Card independently of its Country of Origin?

    I do!

    Thanks

    3. Do you prefer sign up an agreement with a Online Company no ads in its pages (like misk.com)or do you prefer the opposite (with hundreds of ads and "offers" like godaddy.com

    Thanks again.

    I’m using Earthlink.net which offers Unix and Windows servers. It doesn’t have a lot of those trashy ads like the “free” or “cheap” servers, which I don’t like.
