something about site trackers, url cloaking and referers

I am experiencing a stupid problem.
Well, I use a site tracker from bravenet.
and also, my site uses url cloaking from cjb.net
now the problem is, the referer link invariably appears as www.mysite.cjb.net
is there any way I can work around this and get to know whats behind that mysite.cjb.net that led the visitor there ???

The referrer most likely appears as mysite.cjb because what happens when a user types in a .cjb address that site looks up your site in their database & loads it into a frame. I don't see how you can get around this problem if on a refferrer url.

yes the referer url variable will not allow me to get behind the immediate referer and look beyond...I suppose there IS no solution.
    thanks anyway, craig

Cloaking (sounds coo) is one of the very best ways to get banned. Not recommended for search engines.
Zoobie or not Zoobie...That is the problem.

Umm...You lost me. Cloaking is used to show certain pages to search engine bots. And what happens when they return?

I don't understand how cloaking your site could result in you getting banned? By the way it works fine with search engines because when you submit to .cjb they ask for all the info that would appear in your meta tags + description + title. I'd say cloaking is used if you have a url that's difficult to remember (eg. a long Geocities one) or just one that you don't like. So i don't quite understand zoobie's question regarding what happens when they return.

no, you guys are confusing cloaking with url hiding!

url hiding or url cloaking as some places call it, is just to display a different address, like craig said.

cloaking is entirely different - like zoobie said, it is to show a different page to search engines than it does to a normal user. Normally you would have a script that detects the referrer, and if it is a recognised search engine spider, it will serve up an optimised page full of keywords etc. which is of course the best way to get a high ranking. The normal user gets the normal page.

Cloaking is dangerous if not done properly (or even if done at all!) because, although it works, search engines keep changing their minds about whether it's ok or not. So, if you cloak and get found out, you could potentially get banned.

    Hope that helps, guys
