    I need some graphics..

Hiya peeps! Ok so here's the deal...I'm working on a small bulletin board project which has the ability to be skinned.

I can create the graphics myself and have a few years experience with photoshop but I'd can't whip out a lot of these skins in a short amount of time...

I already have 3 done and you can see the first one I did here http://24.226.62.28/projectodyssey/q...quickboard.asp
although it isn't a really good one...my others are better.

I'd like to ask anyone who has some time to make some skins for me if they can.

I'd like to have around 15 to 20 skins all up before I complete the project and put it up for download.

You can see what things have the ability to be skinned by just looking where graphics are. Please no links to sites that make this stuff because I'd like to have original work (although it may be influenced by some one elses)

As for formats photoshop/image ready, fireworks/free hand and xara x are acceptible. Any others I will accept but can you try to export/save as one of the above. Thanks!

It would help if you could post a url to all your graphic files that you used, so that we would know what the file names and sizes would be...

Then it would make life easier for you and well the 'skinners'.

    Hey, now that's an idea!

That is all the images that are contained in the ice skin.

Hum... I am going to try and make my own skins and I'll give them to you, I bet I can make about... 5-6...

This is freaky!! Looks like it got shot through the head!

Also, shouldn't the "skinners" be able to know where they need to add some Hex numbers?

I saw on this other asp forum they had a cool feature when you replied it had a drop down to select your resolution the default was 800x600 and supported up through 1280 and when you selected a high res, it made the reply box larger. Maybe you should throw that feature in?

It remembered the res only on the computer so I'm gussing it was cookie based.

lol I like that smilie, he was meant to look beat up but I like the bullet through the haed idea.. I love my smilies took me a while to do and get right.

I was up till 2am writing out hundreds of variables so that the forum is now configurable by a skinconfig.asp file which can control the page and table class, width, bgcolor, background image, border, font color, font size, font class, font face of every single <table><td><font> tag.

I have a large headache and I think I can now pick up the refresh rate of my monitor I've been here so long.

So I should have the skin maker done in a while so that you can just punch in the file name for the images for each image as well as the classes, fonts, widths, heights for everything which you can preview at the bottom frame with the choice of copyin and pasting the code into a text file or it creating the file.

Also you will have to give your skin a name which will be the same as the directory name because my skin changer file works by overwriting a file which contains the include of the skin so if you change a skin it will use the folder name as the skin name and then overwrite the file incSkinInc.asp file which contains the skinconfig.asp file...

I'm not sure if the above made any sense.

Also Oracleguy, great idea! I was thinking of having personalisation settings for users and now I've got something to put in there.

I'll make the skin maker now.

I saw that resolution setting, but I really think you should make options like that configurable in the config file, meaning to use it or not. A simple Boolean would do it. You know what I mean?

If you have ever noticed, with a normal form you are unable to hit Alt-S to submit, but in this form on this forum you are. I looked in the source code for this posting page, and I think it's done with javascript, maybe you should mimic the idea of Vbulleten and it's Vb code and Javascript hot keys...

    Make any sence?

yeah that is using the accesskey attribute you can put in input tags.. Like submit would be.
    Code:
    <input type="submit" accesskey="s" value="submit" />

You know what I don't understand?

Why people add a / at the end of their html, like you just did.

    <imput />

What does that mean? What is the point? is it important for some odd reason?

It's XHTML, Morgoth. In XHTML so elements that have no closing tags like meta, img, input, etc. you have to add the '/' to the end. XHTML is a mix between XML and HTML basicly.

If you have specific questions on XHTML, google or ask in the xml forum.

Ahh, good. So I am not to worrie about it.
The html with the single letter prefixes scare me, and I am not going to touch them with a ten-foot-long clown pole.

and I am not going to touch them with a ten-foot-long clown pole.
    Simpsons fan?

    Krusty the clown:
and all the other stuff I wouldn't touch with a ten foot clown pole.
When he is giving out the diplomas for finishing clown college. Lol

Any ways back to the original subject...almost.
I have decided to change the formatting of my forum and the way it is skinned to make it easier for everyone to edit and make skins for.

It took me a while but I figured out how to make the skinconfig.asp file make more sense and easily editable.

I will notify when I have changed the forum format and wiped out bugs. I get my School Certificate tommorow and start holidays YAY! So I have more time to work on the forum.

Until then... Have a Merry Christmas! Or if you don't believe in it just have a Merry Holiday! I love merry....such a weird sounding word, well to me.
