    Regarding Image Ready and HTML

So, I only have Photoshop and ImageReady to create a website. My question is: how can I make it so that my text doesn't turn into an image? I want to be able to go in there and add/change the text and add photos with HTML when want.

Is this not possible with these programs? Please Help!

Photoshop and ImageReady have not been built for the purpose of building HTML documents...although, you may be able to generate Galleries etc.

I think you should consider using Dreamweaver, FrontPage, among other applications.

I know. I wish I could. I am an employee at a company that doesn't want to purchase any of the programs that I suggested. All that I have to work with is Photoshop, ImageReady and GoLive.

    Thanks for the feedback.

There are free alternatives you know. NVU is decent. www.html-kit.com has a decent editor. www.evrsoft.com also has a decent editor. All editors I mentioned are free. GoLive could work but they seem to make up their own tags which I don't like.

I know that GoLive in as HTML editor, but when I put the HTML that ImageReady created, everything is saved out as Images. I need to know if there is a way to save out any of those slices so I can enter HTML into them using an HTML editor. When I tried, it just screwed up all of my tables and didn't put my text anywhere near where it was supposed to be.

    HTML & Image Ready

Image ready is absolutely awsome and the best way to use it in conjuction with text is really easy.

All the slices that are created when you save optimized in image ready become graphics and like you said cannot be edited without starting over. The best approach is to go into the code that imageready generates and change it to a background within the TD and the you will be able to type "over" the image.....

    <TR><TD><IMG SRC="image_name.jpg" WIDTH=292 HEIGHT=281></TD></TR>

    Try this instead.......

<TR><TD BACKGROUND="images/"image_name.jpg">YOU CAN NOW TYPE OVER THE IMAGE WITH TEXT</TD></TR>

    Hope that helps

depending on your level of skill i would recommend notepad or jedit... i prefer something that has accurate syntax highlighting which is the only reason i use dreamweaver @ home... jedit is cool but its not 100% with its syntax

i assume you want a WYSIWYG editor...

Frontpage IMHO sucks b/c it produces bloated HTML
    Word isn't much better
Dreamweaver is good but its not "FREE"... cough
I've never used NVU but its free and worth a try

i wouldnt use a purely image driven site... not everyone has a cable connection and unless a site loads in a decent amount of time people WILL click away...
