    Dreamweaver Templates

The main pages of my site will use a drop down menu created in Fireworks so I have made a Dreamweaver template that I use for each of the pages so that if I add another link to the template menu, I can simply update all of the pages at once instead of doing it manually.

This seeming a good idea I also created a template for another section of the site which contains 120 pages all with the same layout but different content.

My only problem is thus. Using Dreamweaver on the PC and making changes simply requires me to press the 'update' button. What happens when the site is uploaded and I want to make changes?
Would I have to change the template and then update on my PC, and then go through the hassle of uploading every page that was affected?
Or, is this like with CSS and the files just look to the template every time they are viewed so that I change the template and upload it and then any pages will be changed automatically?

    Thanks for your help

YEP. With a Dreamweaver template you will need to make a change to the template locally, then update all the pages using the template. Lastly as you said it, painstakingly upload all of the affected template pages

Although using dreamweaver for this is not the best idea, you would be much better if you are making lots of changes or the content will change daily, to use a server-side script to dynamically write to the pages from a database. You could then use css to style the pages by using one external .css file.

i found uploading quite easy with dreamweaver... if you've got the site set as a site you can just connect, click the site name and click the "put" button and it'll upload the whole thing...

And if you made a change to the template which affected 100 pages, you would still have to wait for it to upload those 100 pages.
