Houston's TENNIS MASTER CUP & video transmission delay

I have noticed a few times a strange thing in video transmission during big events: it's a slight delay between the image and the event. I noticed it for the first time during big music summer festivals where the band is also filmed and shown on big screens for people who are too far away from the stage. It was pretty obvious when looking at the drummer hitting the snare drum. When you are far from the stage, you see him hit it and you have to wait a few milliseconds for the sound to travel through the air to your ears. Basic physical law. But when looking at the screen, there was a very slight delay that made the sound and the image match. I noticed the same thing while watching on tv the houston's tennis master cup. There are two screens that transmit the images of the players for the public. You can notice (when those screens appear on tv) that there is also a slight delay. Obviously, when watching tv the perception is not the same since we have sound and image at the same time. But for the people watching the game and having seats far from the players (then watching the big screens), the sound and the action are probably more realistic.

Does anyone know if that is something that is meant to be? Or is it just an unexpected nice effect due to transmission delay uncontrolled?

It sounds like it's just a result of some really good drugs.
