IE and generally microsoft users are stupid when it comes to tech.
Which is why you should use ubuntu, its free, open source and you barley get any viruses because people dont bother making them for ubuntu.

People who still use IE6 deserve to get their credit information stolen because they are so slow and lazy, its not hard to upgrade your browser.

Because this doesn't make you sound ignorant and stupid at all. Who the hell do you think you are?

He is MultiUberLeet, I'm pretty sure he is correct in everything he says.

Sorry, I'll turn my sarcasm off :0)

There is use for windows/IE and their customers. If the mainstream use it, and the relatively few use some other os, the mainstream will attract the malware leaving the others relatively virus/malware free.

It's all about choice. Nothing to justify arrogance or criticism of others' choices.

So bazz you are saying because non-windows systems are less popular they get less malware and it has nothing to do with the security model that both systems use?

Exactly, that’s it. Yeah, it’s not the only point but it’s definitely true. It’s like the reason why terrorists attack major cites and not John Doe’s farm house in the countryside. It’s just not worth the effort.

I would say, for the most part, yes. Sure, different OSes employ different security measures and some are more successful at being a little more difficult to write malicious applications against.

However, the popularity aspect is the biggest reason. All OSes have holes, vulnerabilities, etc. - just look at http://www.securemac.com/, a site devoted to protecting your Mac from Spyware and Trojans. Read the 4.16.10 post on the site - that's a nasty trojan, haha.

Releasing viruses, trojans, and worms are about affecting the most people in order to get the most control, money, identities, exposure, etc. It's like a bomber choosing New York, NY over Okahumpka, FL. That's not saying that Okahumpka has safer security measures than NYC (although it could); it's just that NYC has been analyzed by thousands of malicious people to find all the loop holes with getting in and out of buildings, subways, etc. and gives the biggest results for your "bang".

It's freaky that VIPStephan and TheShaner both used the same analogy to demonstrate the point.
