    Is ‘Grime Travel’ Possible?

People often discuss whether time travel is possible, but lets assume that one day time travel will be possible. Personally I think many people wont want to time travel on a fixed basis, people will miss there families and friends and will not want to travel back in time 100 years (to 2050) for a new life. Instead people will want to use time travel transport there rubbish, including toxic chemicals, into the future. This will clean the planet in its current day but will make the future even dirtier!

Unless you are able to find a point in time where the people are able to deal with this toxic waste in a cheap and clean way. But then there will always be the time paradox, if you eliminate the waste from this period, there will be no need to take care of it in the future. So future lifeforms may not be able to get rid of our waste, which leads us with no opportunity of time traveling it to a future where they are able to get rid of it. Which leads to a future where they must take care of our waste because we were not able to take care of it ourself by time traveling it into the future.

Interesting point - a problem never goes away by ignoring it, but if you transport waste 100,000 into the future people living in that current year will not care a jot.

The phase 'Grime' could also be considered as criminals. Criminals could just be sent off into the future. 5000 years ahead.

You could try to solve the waste problem recursively. When you dump it 100 thousand years into the future, the people living in that time would also know time travel and would be able to send it another 100 thousand years into the future and so on.
I'm not sure if this was any help, but I hope it didn't make you stupider.

True, but maybe by that time they will have true teleportation and it can be teleported through space to a plant nearer the sun and burn up. You could have a huge 'pipe' of cereal boxes and dirty nappies just firing into the sun, incinerating it the waste.

If we could do that, why not send it 4 billion years into the future? By then, the sun will be a red giant, and everything on Earth will cease to exist, so no problem there.

because we might disturb another life form which (for its survival) depends heavily on the equilibrium in the universe. If we put a lot of stuff into this red giant which was once our sun, it might cause changes in its radiation, causing the climate on their planet to change. Just like the changes on the surface of our sun is causing (at least a part of) our global warming, which ultimately might lead to our extinction.

Okay, I've thought of this. But what happens when we send so much garbage to the sun that we begin to run out of raw materials? I mean, at least by recycling the stuff stays on planet Earth. If we eject tons and tons of stuff off the planet, will Earth start to shrink?

Hmmm, sounds like we should just launch it on a rocket all into space. It worked on Futurama, at least for a 1,000 years, lol.

But in all seriousness, why not just use the time machine to go back in time and take back better technology to prevent the trash from forming in the first place? Granted that'd radically alter our current time line but since we are just throwing out ideas, why not.

Yes of course send technology back in time which will prevent waste from being created.

Or you could create stuff in 2100 and transfer it back in time to 2010 which means that in 2010 they wont have to create waste which will create a better environment in 2100????

My husband says we're already doing this. It's called a landfill.
