    Reminds me of the gif patent dispute in the late 90s. We all paid our royalties for using gif images, right?

    In reality this will play out the same way - the mp3 format is just too accepted now. What are they going to do? Go after people RIAA / MPAA style for ripping CDs to MP3? OGG is looking better and better !

    We, the users maybe didn't pay for GIF files. But graphics editor and viewer makers did. Big money. And MP3 may be heading down the same road - most music player and encoder makers already pay Frauenhofer a tidy sum...
