    Seo

I see a whole lot of posts about SEO in the forums, more than in some categories all together.

Maybe there should be an SEO sub-category in Client-Side. It would sure
clean a lot of the site up, and help people get to what they want to know more quickly.

    What do you guys think?

I think people just need to learn how to search. Most of the posts are probably the same thing over and over anyway :/

I think it's a good idea, a) because yes there is so much of it & b) because most of it is self-promotion gone wrong that it really messes up the 'General' forum
    resistance is...

MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)

I disagree. Having a specific SEO forum will encourage the marketers to join this forum and spread their wonderful vision our direction. Let them hang out on other forums, and moderate closely the ones that come here.

well they come here anyway regardless

At least in a specific forums it would be easier to moderate.
The problem with a lot of the SEO posts is its sometimes hard for moderators to tell if they are genuine questions or rhetorical ones which the poster will invariably answer with a link to themselves

Often we are relatively sure that they are leading to self-promotion but tend to give the benefit of the doubt ...except Spookster who shoots first ~

Okay, I just checked, and there are a TON of locked SEO posts on General Web Building. It's worthless clutter. There should either be a sticky or a category. Spammers are using these threads to up post counts so they can get URLs in their signatures.

And nothing will stop them from continuing.
Spammers do not care if they post in the proper forums, nor do they care if there is an existing sticky. They will post whatever worthless junk they want wherever they want.
The general web building seems to be the magnet for the most spam. Which works fantastically since I know where to look for it.
On the plus side, this is typically a relatively safe topic to post when you attempt to raise post count. If you feel that it is nothing but junk, the easiest thing to do is simply down their reputation. They'll always stay under moderation filters when they are a part of the unconfirmed usergroups, and they require 0+ reputation to get there.

I guess it makes sense, though I'm not happy about it. Thanks for responding.

For one, that sig is new. For two, I meant to look at the locked threads that have been answered in case you legitimately had a question. A locked thread is useless to a spammer.
