    Redirection?

Huh? Did you just change the way the user is redirected to subforums, George? I’m usually accessing this site through http://codingforums.com (without the redundant “www.”) and I’m perpetually logged in like that. Now all of a sudden in the middle of my visit I’m redirected to forums/pages where the URL starts with “www.” which results in me having to log in again – and did I mention that I don’t like the redundant “www.” in front of URLs? So, did anything change while I was browsing here?

I’d recommend to go the way suggested by no-www.org, i. e. that any domain – with or without “www.” – should redirect to either domain – with or without “www.”. And I’d prefer if “http://www.codingforums.com redirects to http://codingforums.com but however you decide, make one URL the one and only.

    Thank you.

Edit: Hmm, now it’s not happening anymore… very weird

Some of the links have the 'www':

    1. Rules & Guidelines in the top menu
    2. Latest Posts
    3. The link in the email notifications

At least these are the ones I've noticed, as they force a log-in for me.

On occasion I will also be switched to the www subdomain and be forced to log in again. Bit annoying, and usually quite random links.

Wow some of you guys are fast! Yes, for a few minutes I did set up a redirection yesterday to redirect non "www" requests to their "www" equivalents. Then I noticed a problem with certain URLs not being redirected, and reverted things until I can find out why. At the moment things are back to as they were- no redirection however you access the domain.

If I do try this again, I think I'll probably still go with the same set up of keeping the "www" version. I don't know, it just feels more "proper/ professional" to me.

Well, while I do prefer URLs without “www” personally, I’d certainly not get mad at ya if you are using it. In any way, the important matter is that however we type it it resolves to one definitive domain only.
