Using a web page as data source in Flash

I want to dynamically update the content in a Flash file, the content being obtained from a web page. In other words, I have an HTML table in a web page residing on a webserver. I would like to display a row from this HTML table in a Flash file. The row that is displayed in the Flash file keeps changing. At present, I use an intermediate text file which is updated regularly by a script and the Flash file reads from it. Is it possible to directly read the content of a web page residing in a webserver from a Flash file?

    Thanks!

I'm not very familiar with flash but I'm assuming you should be able to add an html iframe into your flash document. Then just simply update that html document.

    Hopefully this helps!

Can we have an updated (2009) and (ActionScript 3) answer to codefox's question please?

I have the same(more or less) question:
I am trying to create a dynamic photo gallery in flash. I want my web page to search a directory(via php) for jpg's and I want flash to use the 'collected data' to dynamically display those jpg's.

If loading an external(already generated) XML file is the only way to pump information into flash, I don't understand how anything could be "Truly Dynamic" (and yes, I am aware of Get and Post methods, I just need something more powerful.)

    Thanks! ^_^
