How to make such a work?

Hello, I am interested in making something similar, but I am new to Flash... is it something difficult or I can learn? Or there is something similar in the net? Or maybe somebody will give me some help?

It is something you could learn on the net, but

    1) you need to have Flash unless you are comfortable with programming and could get away from the GUI
    2) you need to have good design skills to make the graphics
    3) you need to learn actionscript (recommend AS3) to make it all happen

Honestly, the cheapest and most effective way is to buy a book.

This questions seems to be silly, but it's a question

Without number 2) and number 3) can I do it?

I can get Flash, no problem.

Is there any way or any place where there is somebody that can help me step by step?

Well the problem is you would be asking for someone to first do the work, and then teach you how its done. If you just want to learn flash to do this project, then just hire someone because learning Flash isn't worth the hassle for something just once like this. If you want to learn it, then get a book or find a class at a local university or college. I hope that getting Flash still means purchasing it, remember it costs something like $600, so buying a book or taking a class for $50 would be nothing in comparison.

You still have to learn at least some actionscript, thats what makes most of the real magic happen. It requires both graphic and programming skills.

I personally don't have hours each week to freely give helping just one person here, and its a bit much to ask that of anyone for free. If you take the initiative and ask specific questions along the way, we'll step in and help out. However creating a whole course on how to create things in Flash is not what this forum is for, nor what one should expect from it.

    Hello Jeremy,
even if it was not what I am looking for, I really appreciate your message.

I understand I want too much, I didn't know that to make something similar it is not so easy, that's why I asked.

I would like to learn Flash and Actionscript, but I have too many ambitions, and some of them have the priority and I have to follow my path... Flash is somehow scheduled in next years. I am studying hard other technologies and no time for studying Flash.

I was using flash once to make banners, and transforming objects... really simple stuff, but I have never done anything complicated and surely never touched ActionScript.

Of there is some person, or some place, forum, site where I can ask to have something similar, even with my help (if I am, of course able to), please tell me. Otherwise I will have to resign myself to have a similar web site
Even because it's difficult to pay in my situation...

Thank you one more time for your messagesì

I don't know of any service which will help you that directly. The only idea I have is to find someone locally that can help you. Your best bet are forums like this, but you will have to work to make the initiative.

Again if you are tight on money, which is fine, I just hope you haven't illegally acquired the software. Either way, a book is still your best choice, it will teach you things properly unlike learning online. I learn with books, the amount they cost is well worth the cost, as it will save you a lot of time (and time is money) and frustration.

I would imagine creating a website like that would take me (someone with experience in Flash) 15-20 hours. I guess anyone without Flash experience would take a couple months unless that is all they did. Trust me, get a book and as you learn post questions here and people will help.

Ehm, I have just finished to study 1200 pages, started half year ago, now I have other 1000 before I get certified, so I cannot concentrate on other topics.

Anyway does it really take so long to take such a web site? It's just an image and 2-3 buttons, and the image is changing with some effects..

    Thanks

Without 2 and 3, you can only do it with $.

There are tutorials to teach you how to make the slideshow. there are tutorials to teach you how to add music to your movie. There are tutorials to teach you how to create the transitions. Each of those tutorials assume you have a firm understanding of Actionscript basics, i.e., loops, conditional statements, functions, adding event listeners, importing classes, etc. If you already have a solid programming background, Actionscript will come very easily to you. If not, then prepare yourself for seemingly endless hours of study, and even more hours of trial and error.

No amount of Actionscript study will bestow an eye for design. You either have it or you don't. If you do have the eye, you still have to develop the skills through practice and (let's face it) turning out some pretty mediocre designs at the beginning of your efforts. Rembrandt and Picasso didn't start out with masterpieces, but they were willing to put the time forth to hone and refine their talents.

Good points and yes, it really does take that long to create such a project. This is a case of underestimating the task before you, but its important to realize your first try at something as complex as your project will not get you there. Its like the first time you tried to walk, its highly unlikely that you were able to stand up and run. Same thing here, it takes time to learn the basics before you can be sure footed.

15-20 hours is accurate for someone who knows what they're doing. How about this: do the step-by-step actionscript tutorial at www.tutvid.com on building an XML slideshow. Keep track of your hours. After you've built it, ask specific questions about your code.
