irritating flicker when loading flash movie

    Hi,

I have made a simple Actionscript 2 slideshow with some help from a tutorial. It's just a one frame movie with all action in actionscript loading external images via an external xml file.

For a brief moment / split second when loading the page with the movie I always get a flicker on the screen. I thought at first it was the Flash plugin initializing in the browser but I then noticed that other sites with flash content do not have the same flicker.

What could be causing it? Is it a known issue with a standard remedy?

Look at a sample of the movie here (images are non-aligned, but nevermind that) to see the flicker effect which is ruining my sleep. The white flicker is the same size as the stage of my flash movie.

Thanks a lot for any ideas on how deal with this flicker!

Its because your movie starts to play before it is fully loaded, meaning the white background of your embed code shows.

You can fix this by doing two things. In your embed code set the background to transparent, and perhaps use a loader in your flash file. There are a ton of them on Google that you can mostly cut and paste to make work, but this will keep it from playing until the movie is loaded.
