    auto scroll

    Hi there.
    on our website www.cpcclan.co.uk we have a thinge called feature news.
    its where uses can click on the arrow and it will go onto the new bit of news or advertisement.

    But is there a way to change the follow code so that it will auto scroll to the next bit of news/advertisement

    Sorry i am new at this so i am not sure if there is a code out there that will do this, this is why i am asking here.

    Here is the code
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <images>

        <pic>
            <image>mirc.jpg</image>
            <caption>Come and join us on irc</caption>
        </pic>
        <pic>
            <image>lo3servercode.jpg</image>
            <caption>LiveOn3 Servers 10% off offer</caption>
        </pic>
        <pic>
            <image>cashbanner.jpg</image>
            <caption>Cash-Designs.com create another website!</caption>
        </pic>

    </images>

    Give us a little time, we don't check everything everyday.

    Actually it can be done, but you are using XML here. There is nothing that you can do with the XML to change the Flash really.

    Do you have the FLA file to edit? That is what we need to change.

    No, a swf file is the Flash output which cannot be altered. You need the source which is in an FLA file. Otherwise you need to come up with another method.

    Question Same question

    Hi,

    I am actually trying to do a similar thing with my flash vid.

    I have an external txt file that loads into a dynamic text box via actionscript 3.0. The video is for a lobby display at my office which will display recent news. The news will be fed by the external txt file, and changed frequently. Since there could be lots of news on some days... and not so much on others, I decided it would be easiest to have the news scroll. Once it hits the bottom, I would like it to sit for a moment, then tell a parent movie clip to advance a frame.

    Here is the as3 code I'm currently using:

    var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    loader.load(new URLRequest("news/photo.txt"));
    loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete);
    function onComplete(event:Event):void
    {
    external_txt.htmlText = event.target.data;

    }

    All this does is load the text, but I can't find out how to make it scroll automatically. If anyone can help with any aspect of this, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks
