Need help to replace string in html element via class name or element id

    Hi there

I know it's sunday, but my work has no standard working hours.
So what I need is(and I've searched everywhere with no luck of success) a string or strings to be replaces in an element via it's class name or element with javascript.
I'm not sure whether I posted this in the right section but from what I've gathered it has to do with DOM.

I'm not totally new to coding as I code scripts on a daily basis for our servers.

Anyway this project I'm working on is in Joomla and it has a 3rd party extension called Package form maker.

The form maker allows me to create standard html controls, now the specific element or control I am using is a selectbox, but what I need is just something basic to replace a string in the control at runtime via the class name of the html element.

The form maker allows me to add javascript code to be run before runtime even during runtime, I know what the strings are to be replaced.

Can someone kindly help me please?

    Thanks in advanced

It's a shame there's no edit function otherwise I could've edited my thread.

Here's exactly what I need help with...

If a user selects Value 1 from selectbox with id="selectbox1" it needs to replace all the other values in selectbox2

So that's basically an if statement with conditions upon return value, maybe this is explained better.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance
