    Beginning Programming

    Hello CodingForums!,

My name is Ahren and I am looking to start programming for iOS, Android, and Windows. I am just not sure where to start and could use some help.

    Thanks!,

Those are 3 vastly different environments. If you're new to programming in general I suggest you focus learning programming concepts. Start from the beginning and go from there... what a compiler is, what do programming languages do, etc. No need to confuse yourself by jumping straight into frameworks.

Maybe something like this: Programming for the Absolute Beginner (No Experience Required (Course Technology)): Jerry Lee Ford Jr.: 9781598633740: Amazon.com: Books

However, if you've done programming in the past and already know a thing or two. You should focus on which one you want to start learning first...

iOS uses a lot of Objective-C. If you want to program in that you'll need to learn that language. Look up material regarding that.
Android, syntactically, uses Java. You'll need to find material on Android SDK development.
Windows, uses the .NET framework which involves mainly VB.NET and C#.

Look for best resources online and off for the beginning mobile app developer. Learning the basics of iOS programming and developing for the iPhone. Go with Android Programming Tutorials and Learn Java for Android Development.

Check out codecademy.com to learn from the absolute beginning. It's a great site. If you are interested in a classroom like setting, learning from teachers I suggest looking at introductory Computer Science courses offered by MIT OpenCourseWare, edX or Udacity.
