    Languages used for: Poker Clients

I was just wondering what languages are used to make poker clients, most popular (if there are to many answers)? I know there's all different sorts of software such as C/C++/C#, Java, Python, PHP, etc...etc...etc... Out of curiosity what is used to create a poker client. Also was it a more object oriented language or no? I'm getting into College soon and I want to get into, maybe not Computer Science... But possibly Software Engineering, also what college major deals more with learning and creating software's such as clients like pokerstars. This might be a pretty bold question to ask, hope I'm not scaring anyone away! I am just so inspired to get into this career path, I appreciate any advice anyone might have. Thanks a lot in advance!

Alright maybe I'll ask another question that's also on my mind. Which is better to learn first, Java or Javascript?

ereowuosmith, does someone honestly pay you to go around spamming vacation deals in peoples threads?
Op, do you mind closing this thread?

Yeah, unfortunately spam can be a problem :/

Don't get hung up on a language. You can theoretically write a client in near almost language you want, depending on what its to do (even PHP is capable of establishing gui components, but its not typically done this way at all). Programming is the key here, choosing the language is simply the tool you want.
For the clients, I'm not sure what they actually look like. Thick installs would likely be done using C# or C++, while thin ones may be using something like flex. Procedural versus OO is a non issue, they are simply different paradigms when implementing.

So the language is honestly the last thing you worry about when it comes to programming. Its always chosen based on what you need to do to find the most suitable language.

Hmm very helpful reply Fou-Lu, never really looked at it that way but that makes a lot of sense. I have already started learning Java, do you think this is a wise idea for a first language to learn, or is Java a thing of the past?
