Lightbulb So I have this idea. Penny for your thoughts?

    So, I've had this idea...

My mother likes to shop at Kroger, and I had an idea or two to help her out. Kroger has coupons on their site that you can load to your card for use in the store. So I was thinking; could I write a script to go out to the site, log in her account and check the boxes for each coupon? I'm fairly new to programming (I know some Java, Assembly, and C++).

Anyone have any ideas about writing such a script?

I'm gunna suggest you explain further on what "check the boxes for each coupon" means. You can easily check boxes programmatically, however I don't know what you mean lol

Also, if you know some Assembly, shouldn't you be way ahead of the game in knowing how to write such an application?

Ah, sorry about that. There are about 9 pages of coupons, each with a check box to "select" that coupon. When you're done selecting coupons (to be added to your account) then there's a button at the bottom of the page to add them electronically to your account for use.

I guess I'm not sure what qualifies as knowing "some" Assembly. I took a class last semester on assembly, but I'm not sure how I could use it to log in to and manipulate a web page with it (or at least, I never have until now).

I suppose I'm just asking for a nudge in the right direction. Are there some things in Assembly that I've missed?

    Thank you for the reply!

considering you are essentially wanting to create a bot- and any decent account set up will probably filter out bots, then I think this task will be un-doable. By any means extremely difficult without knowing their security- for example if they have a captcha box- your stopped... if they have hidden fields, your stopped... and so on and so on... I also don't know what legal risk's would be of concern.... people generally do not like mindless bot's that try to log in...
think about it- if you get it working, now all you need to do is make something that would change/try different accounts- and then you just hacked in... they are going to try and stop you in every way possible (*just my opinion)

    I code C hash-tag .Net
    Reference: W3C W3CWiki .Net Lib
    Validate: html CSS
    Debug: Chrome FireFox IE
