    Updating a dll

    Im trying to update a .dll to install Visual Studio but it just keeps the same one even after i delete it. Someone said i have to turn file protection off, how do i do that again ? is it control panel admin tools somewhere?

    OS is windows xp pro

    You disable WFP in the registry. To do this run regedit and navigate to the following: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\
    CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SFCDisable
    . This will be set to '0' which basically means WFP is enabled, change this to either 'ffffff9d' and reboot.

    This site is really cool. I have my A+ and everything but it's really impossible to know everything. And my weak side was os's anyways and I just learned something.
