    Cheap graphics card

I have a computer from 2000 I've been using for webbrowsing and tv watching but I've really wanted to upgrade the graphics card to something that will actually be able to handle me watching tv and allow me to get a resolution of 1280x1024 without getting vertical lines on my screen. Basically something with 64 -128mb of ram and will work with linux. I'm figuring since it's going to be an older card anyway, linux support shouldn't be too big of an issue. I'm not sure if I have any agp slots on this so I'd rather stick with pci to be safe. I want to stay under $40.

    So, any suggestions?

EDIT: I'd also like to try to play Counter-Strike under wine with it so that's really why I'm shelling out the money to upgrade.

Like Half Life 1 Counter-Strike or CS: Source?

If you want to use it under linux, I'd suggest going to an nvidia card, their driver support is better imo.

HL1 Counter-Strike. I know I have no hope of playing Counter-Strike:Source on that computer.

Since its not going to be top of the line I'm thinking it won't matter too much even if I did go with ATI. Also I'm hoping since AMD is pro-OpenSource, well atleast more then ATI use to be hopefully that will bring about some changes.

    Any suggestions on nVidia cards?

The Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 128Mb is a decent card for that. I use the AGP version but they make a PCI one as well

And it is compatible with linux (Redhat Fedora anyways)

I've got an Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 one at the moment and I recommend it. I've also had an Ati Radeon 9550 256mb card which was around 40 (I don't know what that is in USD cos I haven't looked.) That card was pretty good until it ended up failing and so I went and got a FX 5200 - I haven't got around to RMA'ing it yet.

Won't running cs on wine on linux really slow everything down?
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

Yes but since I'm not multitasking I don't care. CS should run fine though.

I just bough an FX5200 should be here within the week. Thanks for the suggestions =D.
