changing win98 serial # without reinstalling

I've recently come upon a small network of 8 or so pcs that all have illegal copies of win98. They need to be replaced by legal copies, but there is so much to back up on each. Does anyone know of a way to change the windows 98 product key without having to reinstall it?

Run >> Regedit then search the registry for the current product key.

Delete it, you'll then be asked for the serial and registration info on reboot.

The registry can be dangerous so be careful

It was for a company. Microsoft really doesn't care about the individual user who pirates their software, but when a company does it, they can get into some serious trouble.
