Question Software / server advice needed on streaming live pictures

Is it possible to set up live streaming on a broadband ADSL connection so that moving pictures can be transferred from one site to another in real time?

I want a person at one site to be able to walk around a motor vehicle outside his own office whilst I at any PC with a similar broadband connection miles away sit in front of a monitor and view the streaming pictures. At the same time, I want to be able to communicate with the other party and ask him to, eg, zoom in on the mileage.

Please confirm if this technology exists and what would be required to set it up. The other party has a wifi laptop and a usb camera so hopefully it is only the software that is needed.

    Regards, Stephen

You can easily set up a live video stream using a USB webcam and a internet connection using web based streaming software. I've got a mate who's done this. He showed me the piece of software that he used to set the connection live stream up. I'll ask him when I speak to him later

In terms of connection, you'd need quite a good upload rate to be able to properly stream live video onto the internet. However, the resolution / size of the video that's outputted by most cameras isn't that high.

Thanks weazel, I'd be interested in seeing how he does it. So far as the resolution is concerned, if I can get it up and running I'd be happy to invest in a better camera or whatever else is needed.
